Life has shifted. Nothing ever stays the same for long. Adaptation is the name of the game. If you can't or don't adapt, then you will be lonely as the world continues to turn.

How much control do we really possess? In the scheme of things, none. Whether you believe in God, nature, or any entity that is above your realm of thinking, we are NOT in control. Cliché to say, but we literally let the chips fall where they may. We have an idea, a plan (throw the chips up in the air). Then we take steps to go forth with what we thought we planned out... Here's the aha moment... The chips come falling to the earth erratically. Here we are praying, hoping, and gambling on these much needed, but deeply hated chips to fall where we want them. Sigh. Not. So back to the drawing board we go. And depending on how developed our skill to is to adapt, will determine if this controlled chaos landing will break us, or build us stronger for the next toss up.
